CUT#36 • Charles Barabé + Roadside Picnic – National House Milk C35

The second collaborative effort from Canada’s Charles Barabé and Britain’s Justin Wiggan aka Roadside Picnic is probably one of the most musically dense records amongst all Wounded Knife releases. “National House Milk” is entertainingly misleading in its abstract compositions which is no surprise considering the musical background of both artists (check their excellent releases on labels like 905 Tapes, A Giant Fern, Tymbal Tapes, Jehu & Chinaman… Not to mention Barabé’s own La Cohu); the distant noisy soundscapes energized by frantic drum machine beats, odd samples of unknown origin and swirling digital textures form a focused and concise album.
